With the excessive
hype and usage of TikTok, it only makes sense why the app now has a competitor that
has entered the social media market. Instagram announced that it will be
launching its new video feature, Reels, in America. The feature is meant to
help users create short-form, creative content. Speaking of this, Reels has
already been tested in countries like India, France, Germany, and Brazil. According
to the NBC News, the feature will arrive in more than 50 countries including
America, within a few weeks. Reels’ US launch was further confirmed by a
Facebook spokesperson who added that the feature will arrive in America in
early August.
Apparently, Reels
has been specifically designed to challenge the growing power of TikTok. Like
TikTok, in Reels, users can add music or other audio to their 15 seconds videos
and use a variety of editing tools like countdown timer and speed adjustments.
Moreover, TikTok
has been facing a few troubles in the market recently. The app has been banned
in India and the Trump administration has been looking forward to a similar ban
as well. The possible ban news has encouraged other TikTok rivals to rev their
engines. Even Snapchat and YouTube have been testing navigation similar to
TikTok for their content.
Even though
majority of the TikTok users might not hop on Reels after TikTok’s ban, Instagram
does have a shot of winning the competition with its wide user reach.
