Since the launch of YouTube in 2005, there have been births
of many content creators on the video-sharing platform. Within a few years, the
platform had its community of content creators, some of whom are still active.
Subscriptions were added so that the consumer can be shown more content of
their favorite YouTubers.
The current leading YouTube channel for the most subscribers
is an Indian music company called T-Series. It has only recently taken the
baton from PewDiePie and is currently standing at 114 million subscribers on
YouTube. The aforementioned YouTube personality, PewDiePie, was the former most
subscribed YouTube channel but was dethroned by T-Series in early 2019.
PewDiePie, real name Felix Kjellberg, is a Swedish YouTuber
who started his channel in 2010 and has amassed over 105 million subscribers at
the time of this writing. The Swede gained the title of the most subscribed
channel in 2013, where his gaming videos were popular. He retained that title
till 2019 but still hit 100 million subscribers shortly after his wedding.
The online battle for the most subscribed YouTube channel
was also very fierce between YouTube and T-Series. Though it was all in good
humor, the PewDiePie supporters started a "Subscribe to PewDiePie"
Movement in 2018, where they would go to lengths to promote PewDiePie's
channel. Renting out billboards, trucks, and even advertising his channel in
Super Bowl 2019, urging the people to subscribe to his channel.
In an ultimate attempt to gain subscribers, Felix released a
diss track for T-Series, which has more than 250 million views today. It helped
the Swedish quite a bit, however, with Indian YouTubers also releasing diss
tracks and urging its country people to follow T-Series, the result was a
success.
It is also notable that music videos and channels have many subscribers on YouTube due to its universality. Despite T-Series being way ahead
of PewDiePie now, Felix still remains the most subscribed solo YouTuber on the
platform.
However, a kids' entertainment channel, Cocomelon, is creeping in slowly to surpass PewDiePie with 87 million followers and counting. Felix's YouTube army, known as "9 years old," has started trolling the channel on the subreddit.
