The rise of Esports in recent years have made many big
marketers to invest in the industry. The current worth of the Esports industry
is neatly $700 million – a huge number, considering the controversies. The Esports
tournaments have only recently become mainstream, but they have been around for
many decades – from the time when universities were holding SpaceWar
tournaments in the 70s.
Video games are no longer a hobby. They are fully-fledged careers
where a single person can earn millions of dollars by winning major tournaments.
Though, you need great skills to compete in them. The industry has shaped up to
attract sponsorships from major companies such as Coca-Cola, Monster, Red Bull
and Gillette; just to name a few.
Esports is on its way and possibly could take over the NBA
or NFL viewership due to the large number of audiences present physically at
the arena, or watching the stream worldwide. The industry is set to reach a
value of over a billion in 2020. Most of the viewership comes from China and it
is also the leading country in Esports tournaments.
With the constant growth of the Esports industry, you can pursue
this as a career and be as successful as any other job if you have the skills.
