Google’s Messages
app for Android is getting new features added to it, such as replying to
messages with emoji reactions and switching conversations to video calls. These
are common options on other messaging apps like Facebook’s Messenger and iOS’ built-in
app for messages, but Google has only recently put these features out after they
were spotted being under testing in May.
The latest version of Google’s Messages app allows you to use an emoji reaction by tapping and holding the message that you want to react to and choosing from the animated emojis that pop up. The option to use emoji reaction will be accessible only if you have RCS chat turned on.
Other than that,
Google’s Smart Reply is also getting a new feature. Smart Reply automatically
suggests potential responses for you to reply with and now it includes emoji
stickers in addition to text. The feature is available in English only for now.
Not just this,
Google is helping to create better communication in Messages by adding a new
video call button to the app. You can tap the button to switch from text
messages to a Google Duo video call. In addition to that, a media editor will
now help you to mark up photos and share them in your conversations within the
app.
