AT&T recently
announced about its 5G network going live nationwide, the testing of which had
been going on since 2017 with a slow rollout in major cities of the U.S. Now,
5G is available to more than 205 million customers all over the U.S. in a total
of 395 markets.
In order to use
the 5G network service and take advantage of its improved speed, you must be on
AT&T and have a smartphone that supports 5G.
According to
AT&T, users can enjoy 5G speeds in their homes, as well as outdoors, with
certain limitations such as in rural areas.
5G is available on
AT&T’s Extra and Elite plans and will be added to the Unlimited Starter wireless
plan at $35 per month for four lines, starting from the 7th of
August. For the Extra and Elite plans, however, there will be no additional
cost charged. Moreover, business customers will also be able to take advantage
of the advanced network as 5G access will also be available in AT&T
Business Unlimited Web-Only and Starter plans. This update will be offered on
August 7 as well.
To find out if 5G access
is available in your area, you can check it on AT&T’s website. Additionally,
it is rumored that Apple’s iPhone 12 might gain 5G connectivity, although the
company doesn’t offer any product that supports 5G as of now.
