AppleInsider has
revealed that Apple’s “color-sampling stylus” might make an appearance, with
the ability to use sensors to pick up colors that it is pointed at.
This is, however,
just an idea that has been proposed by Apple patents several times before as
well since 2014, so it is not necessary that the product will come out any time
soon. Although whenever Apple decides to launch such a pen, it will certainly
be a popular upgrade.
Most probably, the
color-picking Apple pen would somewhat look like a laser pen with small sensors
to pick the colors and be synced with another device like a tablet.
Although new iPad
models are always surfacing, it doesn’t seem like there would be enough time
for Apple to launch an upgraded stylus before the end of this year, as the
patent was published this week only. Previously published patents have also
hinted at other new possible features for the Apple pen such as sliding your
finger along the side of the pen to scroll through a webpage.
Reports have also
suggested that Apple might even consider adding stylus support to its iPhones. However,
for now the accessory is only supported by iPads.
