At an average, internet users around the world spent 2 hours
and 23 minutes on social media networks per day. The Global Web Index also
surveyed the same for Q1 2019 and established that countries with a significant
population of youngsters continued to spend the most time on social media while
some developed countries – notably with an aging population reported slightly
lower use of social media, when compared to the previous year record.
The Infographic below shows the regions where social media usage
is the highest.
Interestingly, the Philippines were reported to spend the most
time on the internet at over four hours a day. Nigerians also devoted much of their
time on social media at three and a half hours per day, while the people of
India and China clocked more than 2 hours per day.
From the downside, the Japanese were observed to spend the least
time on social media with an average time of 45 minutes per day. Germany also
posted similar numbers with social media use of just over an hour.
