Snapchat is well-known for its variety of filters and lenses, but amongst thousands of lenses, how do you search for that one perfect lens which would perfectly suit and convey your mood? Well, Snapchat has recently announced its 'Voice Scan' feature, which uses voice commands to search through thousands of lenses.

Using Voice Scan is easy, all you have to do is press the viewfinder for a few seconds and then speak into your phone about the kind of lens you are looking for. A variety of requests can be made for this purpose. For example,  'front-facing' requests can be that you want yourself to appear dressed up as a witch, so you can simply say "Turn me into a witch", or anything related to the kind of look you want to achieve. On the other hand, there can be 'world-facing' requests, such as "I want to see the sunshine" or "I want to see the clouds" etc. Other than these, you can also ask Snapchat to play your favourite music or simply do something entertaining for you.

So in the front, it's fairly simple but how does Voice Scan work behind the scenes? This awesome feature has been introduced to us because of Snapchat's recent partnership with SoundHound. SoundHound is known for offering voice command services and features to other organisations, as well as being known for browsing and looking up for music. For looking up appropriate lenses on Snapchat, it uses not only the filters and lenses made by Snapchat itself but also those that have been made by users.

Snapchat has an entire group dedicated to preparing lenses for its app. These augmented reality apps are the reason why this app became popular with youngsters in the first place. So it's a good step by Snapchat that it is further complimenting and enhancing the features that gave it the fame and position it has today.
