Slack and Amazon Join Hands to take on Competitors

Amazon Web Services have announced that it will be pairing up with Slack to launch Slack's voice and video calling feature. The two will take on Zoom and Microsoft teams that have seen a rise in usage during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Slack's new features will be backed by Amazon Chime, which will give users an improved experience. AWS Chatbot will also be introduced to the service to assist DevOps teams to corporate easily. Amazon Appflow will also ensure the secure transfer of data between Slack and AWS services and get rid of the need to upload data between different systems.

According to the agreement, AWS will distribute Slack over its extensive workforce. This could be huge for Slack depending on whether the deployment will reach Amazon employees apart from its cloud business.

Even though it is not clearly mentioned, it might be that the new agreement will eliminate Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud from any future partnerships with Slack.

The most notable change this agreement will bring is the transfer of Slack video and voice calls to Amazon Chime, along with screen-sharing options that will push Slack to deliver a great quality user experience that will be enough to compete with other market leaders.

In the future, the transition to Amazon Chime will allow Slack to discover more features that might include secure video calls on mobile.

Co-founder and CEO of Slack, Stewart Butterfield has said that the enterprise software will run with a combo of cloud services and workstream collaboration tools.

“Together, AWS and Slack are giving developer teams the ability to collaborate and innovate faster on the front end with applications, while giving them the ability to efficiently manage their backend cloud infrastructure,” said Andy Jassy CEO of AWS.

According to a report, Slac has 122,000 paying customers that show a boost of 28% over the previous year but still far behind what Zoom and other of its rivals have reached in just a few months. Slack's partnership with Amazon might bridge that gap.
