A Pew
research estimates that there will be 3.7 million people who would have reached
the age of 100 years by the year 2050. The research also suggests that Japan
would be home to the largest share of them.
According to the U.N.Population Division, 79,000 people of age 100 and above are currently
living in Japan, making ‘The Land of Rising Sun’ home to the most centenarians.
The Japanese consider the aging population as a source of
pride for their country. However, this is also creating various economic
problems for the nation.
As life expectancy continues to grow worldwide, many other countries
are also making plans for their elderly in the future.
