A gender difference has been a problem in our society for as
long as one can remember. The male-dominant culture and patriarchy have been
going on for centuries as it was believed that females weren’t fit to sit on
the throne. Thanks to the feminism movement and their fight for such rights, we
see many more improvements in our society, but we still have a long way to go.
Now many of us see this is a very backward approach and that women also need just as much recognition as men do while many may argue that women get the credit. However, the pay scales don’t agree with the latter group of people. As of 2020, the annual pay of a woman at a job is 17% less than a man working the same job.
Men have a higher pay rate in jobs that are usually
dominated by females, such as nurses, librarians, cleaners, accountants, sales,
etc. These jobs have the majority of women, more than half. Still, men who take
up the same job are paid more than women. This is the problem of inequality and
sexism that has been going on for centuries, and nobody talked about it because
of how controversial people thought it was.
Well, not today because attached is a chart of a few more jobs that are being dominated by women but still getting paid significantly less than men in the same line of work.
