We are all aware of the countries that are suffering the
worst-hit from the COVID-19 pandemic. But how do these countries measure up
when we take into account their population size?
Taking the numbers from John Hopkins University and World
Bank, the Infographic below analyzes countries with a population of at least
four million and over five thousand confirmed cases and calculates the rate per
one million inhabitants.
Using the protocol, it is concluded that Kuwait has the most
severe rate of coronavirus diagnoses with 8,010 cases. It is followed by Chile
and Singapore with 7,622 and 6,910 cases respectively. The United States
exceeding 2 million cases – as of this writing lands on the fifth position in
this Infographic with 6,025 cases per million people.
Again, the actual number of cases will be higher than the figures shown below. However, it does show the importance of treating each analytic with caution in these testing times.
