Recently released polls from the month of May between Donald
Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden show a significant lead for the former Vice
President – Joe Biden. In fact, the poll by CNN shows the biggest lead so far
for Biden – at a 14-point lead over Trump. Moreover, the Hill/Harris poll shows
a 10% lead in favor of Biden, while the IBD/TIPP show a 3-point lead.
Trump’s popularity and acceptance in the country have been seeing
a downhill trend ever since coronavirus reached America. It was further dampened
after the killing of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests that
broke out all over the country.
On the other hand, Biden continues to remain steady on the
polls, especially after he announced his search for a running mate.
Biden also took an empathetic approach to the protests over
racial inequality in American and met with the protestors, instead of giving lengthy
speeches on their behalf. On the other hand, Trump’s reaction to the problem
was pretty delayed and perpetuated as ‘dominating’ by the American citizens.
The Democratic National Convention is expected to start on
August 17. Biden’s candidacy for the general election will also be made
official on this day.
