Instagram has confirmed in a tweet that it will now display Stories by official health bodies higher in your feed.
According to Instagram, it will also give users more access to official health information in their main feeds.Starting today, we'll bring Stories related to COVID-19 from credible health organizations you follow closer to the top of your tray. This is part of our ongoing work to connect people with accurate information, and we’ll be rolling out a similar solution for Feed next week.— Instagram Comms (@InstagramComms) May 5, 2020
It is important to note that this will only be for the accounts that you already follow or do so later, so this won't boost the reach of such information across the platform or change anything for users who don't wish to see such information in their feeds. But if you're someone who uses Insta to stay updated with the latest health information, you will find it easier to access them within your main feed and stories.
This initiative comes after many other efforts taken by the platform regarding COVID-19 which include fundraising options in the app, local business support tools, and various stickers to encourage social distancing.
If you follow any official health body on Instagram, you will be seeing more frequent posts and Stories in your feed and if you don't already and wish to stay updated with authentic information regarding the pandemic then you can consider giving health bodies like the World Health Organization (WHO) a follow.
