Instagram has recently added new tools to provide users with more control over their experience of the app and reduce the effects of trolls and abuse.
The platform has started a new bulk comment removal process that will help you better manage the comments on your post by allowing you to delete up to 25 comments altogether.
"We know it can feel overwhelming to manage a rush of negative comments, so we’ve been testing the ability to delete comments in bulk, as well as block or restrict multiple accounts that post negative comments. Early feedback has been encouraging, and we’ve found that it helps people, especially with larger followings, maintain a positive environment on their account," explained Instagram.
The option was being tested by Instagram and since the initial tests have yielded positive results, the platform has decided to roll it out on a broader scale.
If you want to delete comments in bulk, you'll have to tap on a comment and then the dotted icon at the top where you'll have to select 'Manage Comments' and choose the comments you want to delete at once. You can also block or restrict accounts in bulk by tapping on 'More Options.'
Moreover, Instagram is also testing a new option that will allow users to highlight comments on their posts. Instagram has said that this feature will allow users to better engage with their community by pinning comments on top of their comments thread. This could help promote positive interactions while diminishing the negatives.
That's not all, Instagram is also introducing new control over who can mention your account in their posts, this will reduce the misuse of the feature for abuse or bullying. Users can use a new 'Approve tags' option to have more control over who can tag them.
