A global pandemic is greatly changing the way people eat. With the limitation of eating out options and the inability to frequent grocery stores many are having to adjust to a new lifestyle of eating at home. Before COVID-19 Americans were eating out on average 5.9 times per week and of their annual spending on food, grocery purchases only made up 7% of food expenditures. Now grocery sales have quickly changed and U.S. outlets found sales were up 306% for oat milk, 13% for fruit snacks and 10% for dried beans.
Restaurants and grocery stores alike are having to change the way they operate not only because of shifting purchasing and dining habits but also to follow CDC guidelines. These new circumstances may be changing people’s behaviors but it does not have to prevent Americans from staying healthy and eating well at home. Find out more in the following infographic.
