Avoiding Burnout
Everyone gets stressed at work sometimes, but did you know that 64% of Americans feel stressed or frustrated at work one or more times per week? Paired with the 51% saying they felt burned out more than once, makes a culture of burnout in the workplace a likely culprit.

Why should we think about avoiding burnout culture? Well, what is burnout? As defined by WHO, a syndrome caused by chronic workplace stress, which includes feelings of exhaustion, mental detachment, and poor performance.
Chronic stress is harmful to your health, during times of stress cortisol, the stress hormone, increases by 2-5 times. Flooding your system with cortisol may interfere with memory, lower immune function, increase blood pressure, and heighten the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and depression.

Reduce cortisol by socializing with friends and family, and getting good sleep. Staying physically active, and meditating can lower cortisol levels too. Getting support when you need it will prevent stress from getting out of control. These days you can connect with a therapist anytime over phone, webcam, email, or text.
