Even though it's a major centre for finance, business and technology, London is also becoming well-known for a less positive type of development. Cybercrime is on the rise globally, but there are few cities where this new type danger is being felt more intensely than London. According to Action Fraud, a task force run by the City of London police, victims of cyber crime were reported to have lost between £34.6 million between April and September 2018.
The threat of cybercrime to the UK’s capital is shown below in a brand new infographic from a London-based IT support company, EC-MSP. As well as highlighting the extent of the problem and the many kinds of cyberattack, the visual also expands on what businesses and individuals can do to protect themselves, from the use of password managers, to regular updates of operating systems and applications, to performing backups of important data records.
