In order to limit the spread of novel coronavirus, government
and health agencies are urging their citizens to limit their movement and
practice isolation as much as possible. As a result, educational institutions,
entertainment venues and even places of worship have closed down to force
people to stay at home and avoid public gatherings.
And now the restrictions are also applying to offices and other
workplace entities as well.
Coronavirus is a type of contagious respiratory illness. Unfortunately,
the disease spreads rapidly and has infected over 353,000 people around the world with over 15, 427 fatalities – to date. According to health
authorities, the best way to prevent COVID-19 infection is to avoid physical
contact with everyone, follow hygiene protocols and keep yourself isolated to
prevent exposure.
To prevent any type of exposure, many offices around the globe
are also following a ‘work from home’ policy. And this means that the demand for
virtual communication tools such as Trello, Slack, and Teams has increased drastically.
In this regard, Microsoft said that their workplace chat app
called Team has seen an increase of 100% from 20 million daily active users in
November to more than 44 million daily active users today. Interestingly, the app’s
daily user grew by 12 million in just the past week alone.
