Mobile messaging applications, such as WhatsApp, are now tightly woven into the fabric of the contemporary workplace, without doubt. From financial services and healthcare to law enforcement and educational institutions, this instant messaging app has infiltrated many of our society's communication-driven sectors, far away from the era when people used them only for their personal messaging needs.
However, with the rising implications of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the 2018 Data Protection Act, and the forthcoming California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in 2020, using a single WhatsApp account for both personal and work requirements–as most employees do–is rapidly becoming a ban for companies that are required to capture and record WhatsApp for compliance.
As such, there is growing interest in how employees can continue using this app while communicating with their colleagues and clients without compromising their personal privacy as well as their efficiency.
