As I'm sure we've all seen in the last couple of years, wildfires have been severely on the rise. The 2018 Camp Fire was the worst in the state of California's history-and sure things aren't getting better. The California governor has, in addition, warned citizens that wildfires would almost certainly become the state's "norm." And I am sure (or at least hopefully) that we are all conscious of the wildfires that have ravaged Australia over the last few months. They are expected to burn before March.
What is it we are doing? First of all, I suggest that everyone who is ready and able should go get wildfire combat certified! That is if you think the pack check can be done. Don't worry, you'll only have to walk 3 miles... with a 45-pound pack... in 45 minutes or less to pass. Crazy? That's fine. There's always a good way to support efforts to suppress fire and wildland firefighters!
