When it seems as though green space is disappearing at an increasing rate, we can count on the many state parks and national parks through the United States to be there when we need an escape into the wilderness. The 61 National Parks through the nation are the more well known and talked about of these two type of parks, but did you know that there are over 3,700 state parks through the US as well!?
That’s an average of 74 state parks per state! California, New York, and Washington each boast more than 200 state parks, with California leading the pack with 270 of their own. California can also boast that their state has the most National Parks within their border as well, with 9 of the 61 making up over 6.3 million acres.
