Recent history has seen drastic changes in the way that personal data is collected and handled by online businesses. Two of the biggest players in the digital privacy game are the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the US-based California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
While the GDPR set the precedent for the new data privacy standards, the CCPA draws inspiration from the EU regulation, bringing modern data protection rules to the US. If you do business online, you’re most likely subject to comply with one — if not both — of these laws.
