Despite the reality that many individuals are afraid of flying, air travel is the safest mode of transportation statistically. But, taking into consideration the world's worst airports, that statistic becomes almost meaningless. Often these hazardous airports have highly brief runways, turbulent weather with high winds, and geographically disconcerting landing strips. If you are traveling to any of the most appalling airports, be doubly sure to maintain your seat belt tight until the aircraft comes to a full stop.
Imagine an airport where you can land there only eight extremely qualified pilots around the globe. Or how about an airport runway that intersects with a four-lane highway that has to be shut down when an aircraft is taking off or landing? If you looked out your aircraft window and saw a runway made completely out of ice, do you think you'd be nervous?
