Marvel Comics has an amazing track record of churning out some of the most iconic characters in pop culture. With another major “Avengers” film on the horizon, audiences around the world are familiar with many of these characters already. However, long before they lit up the big screen, these icons made their debut in comics.

Stan Lee made a splash when he created the “Fantastic Four” in 1961, and followed that up with more icons like The Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron Man, the X-Men, and many others for the next 50 years.
