Consumers across American are shown recommendations guided by artificial intelligence every day. From suggested songs on Spotify, shows on Netflix, to even profiles highlighted within a dating app, machine learning is taking consumers' interests and trying to introduce them to similar content.
To find out how satisfied consumers are with the results, Innovative Technology Solutions surveyed 2,000 Americans. Artificial intelligence was divided into seven categories: TV/movie streaming, music streaming, news applications, dating applications, GPS, job search applications, and restaurant and bar applications.
According to ITS's survey, Americans are most satisfied with the AI-driven recommendations from GPS, and least satisfied with the AI-driven suggested content of news applications such as the Facebook news feed. When compared to recommendations given by someone they know and trust, like a friend, in six of the seven categories of AI, respondents said they would trust a friend more. The only category in which respondents were more likely to trust technology's suggestion was GPS navigation and directions.
