Eyewear from movies has the ability to transcend time, remaining iconic for decades after its initial silver screen debut. In fact, by some measures the entire Ray-Ban company was put on the map by Hollywood. What are some of the most iconic frames in Hollywood history?

Ray-Ban aviators had a practical purpose before Tom Cruise made them mainstream in Top Gun. They were originally designed for pilots and even General MacArthur wore them publicly during WWII, but they weren’t mainstream until Top Gun. Tom Cruise also popularized another type of Ray-Bans - The Wayfarer. Before Risky Business Ray-Bans had sold about 18,000 units. After the movie they sold 360,000 and continued to grow from there, thanks to Miami Vice, Moonlighting, and more.
