In 1998 several satellites were hit with solar flares from the sun, shutting down Internet access all over the world. The early 2000s were fraught with catastrophic weather that tore down Internet lines and left lengthy outages for millions of people.
Today we can usually attribute internet connectivity issues with the providers themselves.
So what can be done when the Internet is down with no signs of returning any time soon? Office workers report a 60% drop in productivity (not to mention mood) when the connection is down. But just because the internet has come to halt, doesn’t mean your productivity has to.
Though it may hamper our workflow, an Internet snow day doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Just as the internet needs some tome to reset every once in a while, so to must we.
