Sears and Roebuck made their name by selling all those things you couldn’t get at the local general store by mail. A hundred years ago it wasn’t uncommon to buy your house in pieces from the catalog and get it delivered to you in the mail. Then highways and supermarkets and automobiles took over the landscape and mail order fell out of favor until the internet once again made having things delivered convenient. Now you can press a button in your laundry room and a drone will deliver laundry detergent right to your door.
