A makerspace is a program and/or area that enables people to create projects and explore resources they may not have access to otherwise. In fact, many libraries are embracing makerspaces as they move to help their communities create knowledge, as well as acquire it. Depending on the budget, they can include access to arts and crafts supplies, computers, audio and visual tools and 3D printers. These spaces are available in libraries, schools, recreational places, retail businesses and many other areas. They can be set up according to their specific purpose, whether it is for learning, experimentation or just plain fun.
