While total solar output in the U.S. is still low, new technology, subsidies and the creation of sizeable solar farms show that solar is continuing to advance and will remain an important employment avenue for future engineers. The United States installed 1,354 megawatts of solar photovoltaics in Q3 2014, 41% more than the same period last year.
