Having conducted some in-depth primary research and building upon secondary data via the CSO (Central Statistics Office) of Ireland, the focus of this study examines the benefit of having a pension among Irish citizens. Throughout the process, we quickly realized that there was a wealth of data suggesting that the earlier one takes serious measures towards investing in a pension, the wealthier they will be later in life when the time comes for them to avail of their hard-earned pension savings and enjoy retirement to its fullest. Not exactly surprising when you think about it, but it certainly paints a stark set of imagery when depicted in graphical format.
As the infographic depicts, the average life expectancy in Ireland is on the rise, in line with most Western European cultures, and this means that by the year 2046, one in five Irish people will be over the age of 65. It's unlikely that retirement age will remain at 65 by then, so there are a wide range of implications of the average Irish citizen and Zurich Life are suggesting that acting now is certainly the suggested action rather than holding off for another day to start taking your pension seriously.
