Most Americans believe their right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed by the constitution, though various laws prevent certain groups of people from purchasing or owning firearms. Anyone convicted of a felony, anyone who has been declared a danger to themselves or others, anyone convicted of domestic abuse, and drug addicts are all on the list of people prohibited from purchasing firearms at the federal level.
