There are many stereotypes of typical tribes, but these are more than often not accurate. For example, did you know that the Aka tribe in Africa swap roles so that the man stays home to look after the children while the women go out to hunt? Many tribes are increasingly adopting Western cultures, but luckily many tribes are still happy to keep their traditions.

Our latest infographic describes where the tribes can be found around the world, their populations, and also some information about the customs and traditions of the tribes. Many tribes also embrace the practice of lip or ear plugs after they’ve been pierced as signs of beauty, or other beautification methods such as the Kayan women wearing coils around their necks to elongate them.
