What can managers learn from a 100 year old experiment in stress you might ask yourself? The 100 year old experiment motivated rats through a maze using electric shocks. If the shocks were too intense, the rats would not complete their way through the maze and tried to escape instead. However, the shocks at moderate levels boosted performance and allowed the rats to complete the maze successfully. This experiment can be applied to the business world as most business leaders think of stress as a productivity killer. However some moderate levels of stress can actually boost productivity levels.
