The MTV Video Music Awards have long been one of the most pop culturally relevant annual award ceremonies, and really just events. Even though MTV is no longer looked at as the end all be all of music on television they still hold tight on to a brand that is associated with musical acts, and thus are able to produce a yearly award show, that to be fair isn't really about the awards as much as it's about who will perform with who, and what will so and so wear.
However they still do give out awards, and while some categories change, and even disappear all together, one award has stood the over 30 year history, Best Choreography. In fact the award has a long lineage of interesting inter-connectivity and random occurrences. It's no surprise to see acts like Beyonce or Janet Jackson as some of the most nominated and awarded performers, but it's the connections between the various different and often similar choreographers that stand out. Check it out below!
