Ever wondered what effect streaming is having on the music industry? We all know all too well that many of the popular streaming platforms are paying artists a pittance for streams, however how is this affecting our artists?
London Speaker Hire took the time to compile the data and the research to showcase that whilst streaming has more than doubled in usage over the past year, digital downloads are declining at a surprising rate, far quicker than that which CD sales are declining. As such, artists are receiving far less income from their music than they were even last year forcing the price of gig tickets and merchandise to rise.
If you want to support your favourite band, buy their album! Bands (and labels alike) can't survive on nothing and whilst streaming is great for brand (or should that be band) awareness, from a financial point of view, it's a ticking time bomb which is only set to get worse.
