With the N.W.A biopic 'Straight Outta Compton' as well as Dr.Dre's album Compton both dominating the charts and simultaneously being two of the more talked about things in pop culture over the last few weeks, now was as good a time as ever to show the world just how deep the history of the California gangster rap super group goes. Dr.Dre's impact on music is a widely known concept, but seeing the full expanse of just how influential he was is striking. When you add in the contribution that other members of the group, like Ice Cube, Eazy-E and unofficial member The D.O.C also made on the hip hop musical landscape, it really is a sight to see. Although there are definitely other acts not listed that also spring from the musical lineage of some of the record labels and figures that were included, we felt that we showed all those that were truly pertinent and connected.
