Raising a child is expensive, but any parent will tell that it’s worth every dime. Yet how does child rearing compare to other necessary purchases like buying a car? Toyota of Knoxville recently examined the numbers, releasing the first side-by-side comparison of its kind: Baby vs. Corolla. You can’t help but wonder how much the cost of raising a child compares to other necessary household expenses, like monthly grocery budgets, the cost of a mortgage or rent, and the cost of owning a new vehicle. Recently, that last example piqued the interest of the Toyota of Knoxville team. We wanted to look at the overall costs of owning a new Toyota Corolla, one of the best-selling family sedans, compared to that of raising a child.
The results were surprising and provided a clear picture: The five-year costs of owning a Toyota Corolla are much less expensive than raising a child. But the infographic was about more than just a numerical value – because we know raising a child and owning a new vehicle are incomparable. Instead, our research shows the amazing value and affordable investment that a Toyota Corolla provides for families.
