This rise was due to the invention of front-facing cameras in phones, along with smartphones, which many it easier to see what the picture would look like before it was taken. Then we had the rise of social media platforms that made it easier to share pictures to selected few. Along with social media platforms there were filter applications that can add an artistic look to pictures, along with the selfie stick, which allows a group to squeeze in everyone in one picture. Pop culture has also had effective on this, especially through celebrities. Even though there are these four aspects, psychology is the one who has affected it the most.
