Herbalism or herbology is known as the use of plants for medicinal purposes. Throughout the course of history plants, have been used primarily is Western or Oriental Medicine as a means to treat patients. Modern medicine in North America recognizes herbal medicine as a form of alternative medicine. Because of this we are starting to see more Doctors refer patients to trained and experienced Herbalist.

This is now causing many people to look into the profession and find Herbalist certification programs being offered in Canada and the United States. More and more alternative and integrative health schools are offering Herbalist courses and programs.
