California's water resources need all the attention, possible. There are significant facts and historical events, that lead the to the difficult situation in the state. This graphic presents part of these events, beginning from 1769 with the establishment of the first Spanish settlements. There are many events considering the water rights in the State of California, that people must remember and be aware of, such as that the Mexican-US Treaty guarantees Mexico 1.5 million acre-feet per year from Colorado River in 1944.
The graphic also follows other types of events that are significant to the current state of the California's water resources, as for example the authorization of the Feather River Project, creation of State Water Resources Control Board, passing of the Safe Drinking Water Act, setting Delta water quality standards, approval of CVP Improvement Act and many more.
