There comes a time in every parent’s life when they need to make the decision whether or not to leave their child at home alone. At some point, your middle school child will nag you to leave them alone sometimes, ensuring you that they are “totally” mature enough. If your child isn't nagging you to be left home alone, then be assured they are not ready for this step of maturity. Don’t bring it up until they do. Some children are just naturally more fearful and don’t feel confident enough to be on their own yet.
