Our latest infographic takes a look at the new Yummy style trend. Whatever your thoughts on the term itself, the title refers to very real patterns of behaviour that leads back hundreds of years. We look at the history of the most fabulous male fashion trends, from the earliest iterations of the Fop, through to the slightly more modern Dandy, through to the ubiquitous metro-sexual, leading through to today’s Yummys.
We also take a look at some of the statistics on contemporary men’s style, looking at women’s perceptions as to when and how their men are “high maintenance”. We also look at data around mens plastic surgery, use of cosmetic products such as moisturizer and anti-aging products, and also look to see how such style trends are viewed around the world.
Clearly the concept of men taking their appearance seriously is not a new one, and it’s unlikely that this will change any time soon, rather the process seems to be accelerating. Are we headed towards a metrosingularity?
