Get your online profile right: Your profile is the first thing that people see when they visit your page, so taking the time out to make an intriguing and interesting profile is half the work done.
Be open to variation: You might have a specific ‘type’ in your mind, but that doesn’t mean that you should ignore everyone else who doesn’t fit that description. Talk to various people, and accept dates from people who’re not really your type. You might be surprised!
Prioritize online dating: If you’re into it, make it a priority. Log in everyday, check your messages, and don’t procrastinate in replying to the ones you feel deserve replies.
Go out for first dates in public places: Sure, you know the person and all, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry! Choose a public place for the first date, so you know that chances of things going wrong are almost negligible.
Don’ts:
Pretend to be someone you’re not: The very basis of successful online dating is in presenting a truthful image of yourself. Don’t misrepresent yourself – it comes off as awfully desperate.
Use selfies as profile pictures: A person who has a selfie as his/her profile picture generally comes across as someone who is just not interested enough. You don’t want to be that person on an online dating site, do you?
Chicken out: If you’re interested in someone who has sent you a message, muster up some courage and reply. Making the first move is big, but you don’t really need to hesitate all that much.
Let the past bring you down: So what, you’ve had one bad dating experience? Two? That’s no reason not to give it another go. You never know what you might find!
