African American women over represent in using mobile phones to check out hair and beauty products and information, according to a new study of women's mobile habits from Social Lens Research. African American Women are more likely (73% versus 64% of the total population surveyed) to use mobile in online research on products, prices and deals. They have a stronger preference for using mobile to search and make purchases, are more likely to download brand apps, and to sign up for brand alerts. The mobile-optimized survey was fielded via the MocoSpace platform over a seven day period, recruiting 9,209 without an incentive. African American women (1,874) were 20% of the respondents.
