It’s 2014, and we are more connected than ever before. As a result, life has become increasingly dependent on our smartphones and tablets to inform the way we live – whether it’s ordering pizza on your phone, or checking your local weather app before getting dressed each morning – and it’s hard to believe that we can get any more connected than we are now.
With that in mind, Three mobile have looked at current data to estimate how we are still yet to become more connected, and what that means for our future. And they’ve made some interesting observations: for example, in 2012 60 million of us were able to connect to the internet using a mobile 4G connection – but by 2017 there will be almost 1 billion of us using this technology!
Three also state that it’s possible that by 2017, the mobile ecosystem – currently worth $1551 billion in 2013 -will be worth almost $2000 billion. That’s a lot of takeaway pizza!
It looks as well like those driver-less cards of science-fiction will eventually become science-fact by the year 2040, all thanks to mobile internet technology.
