With every year being hotter or colder than the last, we can
now feel the global warming and how it is affecting the climate. The landscape
is changing and will continue to change in the next 30 years. Air conditioning
units are in increasing demand as well as the electricity that powers it.
There are an estimated 1.9 billion air conditioning units around
the world according to a report. The report mainly focused on the USA, China,
Japan and South Korea and has made an estimation based on that. Predictions and
projections show that the number will increase to 5.5 billion units globally by
2050.
The news may be great for the air conditioning manufacturers
but can also be a cause of a potential problem for the world. With the increasing
demand for air conditioners, energy consumption will increase which the world isn’t
addressing. An IEA Executive warns us that this increasing air conditioning
demand is one of the critical blind spots for the world’s energy debate.
One solution to this problem was for the governments to set
higher standards for energy efficiency because the energy demand is expected to
increase in the near future.
Let's take a look at the following infographic at the critical growth factor that comes with increased air conditioning demands.
