New research published as part of ingenie's Young Drivers Report has revealed that 40% of new driver crashes could be avoided with the wider adoption of Blackbox insurance. These stats come from 200 million miles of data recovered from ingenie users. It's also estimated that one in five young drivers crash during their first six months on the road, and that 5 young drivers are killed on the road every week.
The insurance company believe that these troubling statistics could be dramatically reduced with a rise in the number of people using telematics insurance. If done correctly, ingenie believe that up to 28,749 crashes a year could be avoided, saving the economy £500 million in the process. Overall the report believes that the wider adoption of telematic technology could make UK roads a much safer place.
